Visa
PROCEDURE TO OBTAIN A VISA
To enter France, all foreigners must be able to present the following:
- a travel document which has been accepted by the French authorities. If a visa has been added to this travel document by a consular authority the document will be accepted by the police at the border;
- a valid visa which corresponds to the duration and motive of stay;
- proof related to why you are staying in France and in the Schengen area.
When a visa is necessary, it should be requested from your consulate, or consulate services at your embassy, before you leave. It is advised that you take these steps at least three months before your departure.
As soon as it is possible, each delegation should submit to the organiser a list of the members from their national federation who will be traveling, conforming to the rules of the international federation. The organizer will then be able to apply for free visas with the immigration services.
American citizens, as well as those from the Schengen area (*) are not required to hold a visa. An up-to-date passport is sufficient to enter France for a period for up to three months.
Under the initiative of the inter-ministerial delegate for large sporting events, airports services will be requested, whilst still conforming to their security obligations, that everything possible is done to ensure the smooth passage of delegations and their possessions through customs control.
